For some athletes, this will be their debut UCI Road World Championship appearance. A first chance to make their mark at UCI’s pinnacle road cycling Championship event and set their intention for an illustrious career ahead.
Wollongong city centre will welcome these young prodigies as they fly off the start ramp toward WIN Stadium / Win Entertainment Centre before winding their way through the suburban streets of the seaside city.
Road Race: The event is a single ‘mass start’ road race, the winner being the first across the line at the completion of the full race distance. This is usually conducted as a circuit race of approximately 15 -25km which may start from another point before entering the circuit
Individual time trial (ITT): An event in which cyclists race alone against the clock on flat or rolling terrain, or up a mountain road. Cyclists start the race at different times so that each start is fair and equal
Team time trial mixed relay (TTT): A road-based bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock. Cyclists start the race at different times so that each start is fair and equal
