Wollongong 2022 Legacy Partnership Program Opens

In September 2022 the world’s best cyclists will come to Wollongong for the UCI Road World Championships – the pinnacle event in the international road cycling calendar.

The Championships will be a landmark event for Wollongong and presents a major opportunity to showcase the region, develop the sport and attract a new generation of cyclists.

The Local Organising Committee, Wollongong 2022 in collaboration with the NSW Government has developed a Legacy Plan, in recognition that long after the excitement of Championships has passed, the event’s success will be judged by the legacy it leaves for our future.

As part of the Legacy Plan a new grant program is available to support initiatives that aim to increase participation in bike riding, develop all aspects of cycling, educate cyclists and other road users and build cycling related tourism.

This first round of this grant program opened on the 16 March and closes 15 April 2020.

Grants of between $2,000 – $20,000 are available. Funding is available for projects in the Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven Local Government areas.

Interested groups should read the grant guidelines at https://sport.nsw.gov.au/clubs/grants and submit applications by 15 April 2020.

Grants of up to $20,000 are available. Applications close 15 April. For further information visit www.sport.nsw.gov.au/clubs/grants.
