Leading Australian investment manager Wilson Asset Management has been named as the foundation Official Partner of the 2022 UCI Road World Championships, an Olympic-scale celebration of cycling in New South Wales.

Wilson Asset Management manages eight listed investment companies and more than $5.5 billion in shareholder capital on behalf of over 120,000 retail investors. As a people-focused leader in investment management, Wilson Asset Management will partner with the local organising committee for the UCI Road World Championships, Wollongong 2022, to deliver a world-class event founded on mutual objectives of supporting people and creating a legacy for the community.

Wilson Asset Management Chairman and Chief Investment Officer Geoff Wilson AO said the event was not only beneficial to the cycling community but would create a prosperous future for Wollongong and the Australian community.

“Wilson Asset Management has a long-standing commitment to making a difference for our shareholders and the community. We are the investment manager for eight listed investment companies and the creator and lead supporter of the Future Generation companies, the first listed investment companies to deliver both investment and social returns,” Mr Wilson said.

“We look forward to working with Wollongong 2022 to demonstrate the long-term value of investing in financial, physical and mental well-being through cycling, community engagement and major events.

“Major events are not just about entertainment, but they catalyse collaboration, investment, visitation, new opportunities and future growth for cities and the country, so we are excited to play a part in one of Australia’s first international sporting events in three years that will have long-term benefits for us all.”

Wollongong 2022 Chair Dean Dalla Valle welcomed Chairman and Chief Investment Officer Geoff Wilson AO and the entire Wilson Asset Management family to the team.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Wilson Asset Management in our mission to deliver a world-class event that sets the agenda for the Australian community to talk about our future well-being in many ways,” Mr Dalle Valle said.

“This partnership will support Wollongong 2022 and Wilson Asset Management to bring our future-focused communities together, and to think about what we can do today that will make tomorrow even brighter for Wollongong, Australia and the world.”

Wilson Asset Management is the foundation Official Partner of the event and will formally support the Volunteer Program, which will launch on Wednesday 27 April.

The 2022 UCI Road World Championships will be held from 18-25 September in Wollongong, Australia, when 1,000 of the best cyclists from 70+ countries will compete for a gold medal and coveted rainbow jersey in front of 300,000 spectators.
