Men Junior Road Race

Men Junior Road Race

The first group to take on the UCI Road World Championships Road Race in 2022, the Men Junior event will kick-off a weekend to remember in Wollongong.

With a challenging city-based circuit, these young men will be battling in close quarters through the centre of town and up into the lower reaches of the dramatic escarpment that encircles the city.

As with the Time Trial events, the intense finish of the Road Race will unfold on Marine Drive in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans and the backdrop of white sand and the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Format of events

Road Race: The event is a single ‘mass start’ road race, the winner being the first across the line at the completion of the full race distance. This is usually conducted as a circuit race of approximately 15 -25km which may start from another point before entering the circuit

Individual time trial (ITT): An event in which cyclists race alone against the clock on flat or rolling terrain, or up a mountain road. Cyclists start the race at different times so that each start is fair and equal

Team time trial mixed relay (TTT): A road-based bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock. Cyclists start the race at different times so that each start is fair and equal
