Men Elite Time Trial

Men Elite Time Trial

Course Details

In an epic opening day double-header, the Men Elite Time Trial will follow in the tracks of the Women Elite riders over the same course, and for the first time in UCI Road World Championship history, the same distance on the same day.

The home stretch of the course traverses some of Wollongong’s most prolific landmarks and community gathering sites, from Thomas Dalton Park to the University of Wollongong Innovation Campus, Stuart Park and finally past the Flagstaff Hill lighthouse.

Format of events

Road Race: The event is a single ‘mass start’ road race, the winner being the first across the line at the completion of the full race distance. This is usually conducted as a circuit race of approximately 15 -25km which may start from another point before entering the circuit

Individual time trial (ITT): An event in which cyclists race alone against the clock on flat or rolling terrain, or up a mountain road. Cyclists start the race at different times so that each start is fair and equal

Team time trial mixed relay (TTT): A road-based bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock. Cyclists start the race at different times so that each start is fair and equal
